Last Wednesday (June 12), at the São José dos Campos’ Technology Park, the real estate development “Cidade Tecnológica” (Tech City) was launched. The private initiative project will consist in a future neighborhood, a valuable extension to the Technology Park in terms of service, business infrastructure and residential area.
According to the developers, the main objective is to attend to around 2,000 people who move around the Park daily, in the sectors of research, education and academics, businesses, etc. It is expected a R$ 70 million ($18.5 million) investment in order to facilitate implementation until the final infrastructural stage. The lots are next to the Technology Park and have easy access through Presidente Dutra Highway.
Through an alliance with the Technology Park, “Cidade Tecnológica” will offer a complete infrastructure for technology-based businesses, commerce, and services that will be used by workers or nearby city citizens.
For City Hall’s and Technology Park’s leaders, the venture contemplates the park’s growing and innovative importance. In other words, becoming a service and infrastructure extension for everyone connected to the park.
A 150,000 ft2 portion will be reserved for the City Hall’s institutional area, in accordance with the law. The future use of the area will be discussed together with the Park’s management.
Exto Incorporação e Construção, the land owner, will be the company responsible for construction. According to them, the lots will be the first planned innovation district in Brazil, with a total area of 3,325,628.53ft2 and different facilities, such as a convention center, hotels, innovation hubs, and residential sectors.
“This is the first territory in Brazil planned for embracing society’s yearnings for knowledge in a complete way, with production, quality of life, and leisure”, said Roberto Matos, Exto’s CEO.
“The Technology Park is a tool for economic growth, responsible for creating a place where people can work and live in the society of knowledge. The Tech City will expand the connection of all elements and boost the region in a cooperative way, bringing quality of life”, said Marco Antonio Raupp, General Manager of the Technology Park.
